MARIOLA LANDOWSKA

Mariola Landowska is a Polish artist long established in Portugal, whose work reveals a vivid synthesis of cultural landscapes, mythological symbolism, and deep field research. Born in Szczecin, she began her artistic path studying Architecture in her hometown before specializing in painting at the prestigious Gazzola Institute of Fine Arts in Piacenza, Italy. Her parallel interests in ethnography and mythology leave a profound imprint on her visual language and thematic choices.

For nearly thirty years, Landowska has lived in Portugal, where she has absorbed and reinterpreted local traditions through her own artistic sensibility. She paints primarily on canvas, transforming the vibrant material she gathers—often through her photographic explorations—into compositions inspired by the Brazilian Amazon as well as a wide range of cultural and symbolic universes. Her works frequently echo the aesthetics of rupestrian art and regional motifs, giving them a sense of timelessness and cultural resonance.

Landowska’s artistic production has achieved international presence, with pieces held in private collections and in the collections of museums across Poland, Portugal, Brazil, Germany, Denmark, the United States, Spain, and Italy. Her oeuvre stands out for its fusion of cultural memory, mythic narrative, and a keen sensitivity to the traditions and stories that shape human experience.
