NADINE COLLADO
Nadine Collado is a contemporary abstract artist from Gibraltar whose vibrant, textural paintings reflect a profound shift from a successful corporate and academic career into full-time artistic practice. After two decades leading a corporate management division and nine years as a founding director at the University of Gibraltar, she embraced art as a space of freedom and emotional expression. Painting, for her, is where “time stands still and the mind flourishes,” a process driven entirely by spontaneity and joy.
Working primarily in acrylics and mixed media, Collado’s work is rich in texture and energy. She frequently incorporates gels and sand into her canvases, building tactile layers that evoke natural elements like seagrass, nebulae, or shifting tides—though she avoids literal representation. Her compositions unfold intuitively, without pre-planning, and often challenge the artist with the question of when to stop. Color is central to her vision; bold, saturated palettes pulse through her paintings, inviting the viewer into an emotional and sensory experience.
Collado has exhibited widely in Gibraltar and Spain, including shows at the International Contemporary Art Fairs. Her work speaks to a universal language of feeling and transformation, offering each viewer a chance to interpret their own story. As she describes it, “every piece has its own story, and the viewer determines what it is”—a philosophy that mirrors the open, exploratory spirit at the core of her artistic journey.
